Prayers and Blessings
“When Life is Rough Pray, when Life is Great Pray.”
I find myself saying small, short prayers all day long for people I don’t even know but feel somewhat connected to through social media. I have to admit though, sometimes it feels “watered down”. Is God still listening to me?
With the Thanksgiving Holiday next week, I have so much to be truly thankful for at this time. I feel blessed in so many ways, too numerous to really express into words.
The inspiration behind this particular blog is a story about Afghan refugees resettling into cities all over the US. The political aspect isn’t relevant, only health and human services aid. We’ve all seen and heard what they’ve endured just to get to this point. Imagine trying to adapt to everything being new and unfamiliar. To be very honest, I don’t know if I would be that brave. I recently learned of a refugee family of 16 living in a 2 bedroom apartment. No heat and sleeping on blankets on the floor. The hope and prayer they must have in their hearts to get them through every day.
I pray daily that refugees are welcomed into our communities. I pray that their needs are satisfied and they feel secure in this country.
So, this week before Thanksgiving, I’m very thankful and blessed with Family, Friends, Faith and Freedom. The Core. Everything revolves around the Core.
If you feel so inclined to donate to an organization assisting with Afghan refugees, there are many in your local city.
Local KCMO organizations accepting donations or volunteer opportunities. Please reach out to Della Lamb or https://www.catholiccharitiesks.org along with many others. Refugees are in dire need of clothing items for employment or bicycles/helmets for transportation.
